New lab scope
Has the Fluke 98 been reincarnated?

A new lab scope arrived on our doorstep this week and we had a feeling of deja-vu, to be more precise, deja-Fluke.  This is the new scope from UEI, known as the ADL 7103

It looks and behaves like the Fluke 98.  The button layout on the face plate and the on-screen menu selection sequence are very similar to the 98.  However, the screen is of the black and gray, monochromatic type but with high contrast.  The screen is the same height as a Fluke 98 screen but narrower.

Now some major differences, this unit includes:
1. about 47 sample waveforms for on-screen comparison and scope setup
2. Glitch Snare to trigger on abnormal signal conditions
3. OBD-II code reader with code descriptions

These are our first impressions and we are sure there are other differences but for less than $1400 this one is looking like a good alternative to a Fluke 98.

Conclusion: if you wanted a Fluke 98 and missed it, then this scope is worth a look.

Accessories for the Snap-on MODIS

Test Drive Test Leads
The MODIS is great tool but it's lab scope test leads are too short for test drives. Plus, when using multiple channels ground stacking becomes a problem. The ST3 Test Lead Kit for Snap-on MODIS solves these problems.
